This standard covers regular requirements for general-purpose single or multistage centrifugal pumps for water with any drive and any installation. It includes design features concerned with installation, maintenance and safety of the pump, in addition to baseplate and coupling. However, the driver is excluded unless it is an integral part of the pump. Alternative designs with specific design feature(s) that meet the intent of this standard may be offered, provided the alternative is described in detail. Pumps not fully complying with requirements of this standard may also be offered but then all deviations shall be stated.
